What a treasure!

Lauk Pou Son Soubert and I met Caroline Kennedy and her Japanese friends, The Niinamis, at the Sofitel lobby. I became an American again as I joined their delegation and rode with them in their vehicle following that of Lauk Pou Soubert’s to the Royal Palace for an audience with the King and Queen Mother. I had the pleasure also to ride back with them and to have some time chatting in the lobby as I waited for Lauk Pou Soubert who stayed behind a bit longer at the palace.

What inspiration! A great Sunday (to put it mildly)!

I read this book through in one sitting last night, delighting in the beauty of words and their power to transport and elicit long buried feelings and nostalgia, in the familiarity of some poems first encountered in school assignments of decades past, in the rich morsels of Caroline Kennedy’s introduction to each section giving us glimpses into a storied family that is personal and full of warmth.

ខ្ញុំ នៅតែ ភិតភ័យ ស្រឡាំងកាំង ជានិច្ចជាកាល ចំពោះ ការភូតកុហក ហាក់ដូចជា ទឹកហូរ ចេញពីមាត់ ជនខ្លះៗ និងការលួចប្លន់ របស់គេ ដោយគ្មាន មនសិការ ការដឹង និងការ​យល់, តែ បែរ ជាទាំង ញញឹម ទៅវិញ៕

I’ve been purposely using mainly English, but I think I will start making short video clips in Khmer to address fundamental issues of ethics, politics and culture in general.

I think I start with something as fundamental as DON’T LIE. Tell the truth. DON’T STEAL.

I’m constantly aghast at how lies pour out of some people’s mouth like a stream of water and how they steal without conscience and with a smile.
